Privacy policy

How this site handles data. In short: it is static, runs no analytics, sets no tracking cookies, and the tools keep your data on your own device.

Effective 8 August 2026 · Last updated 8 August 2026

01

The short version

This website is a static site. It has no user accounts, no login, and no server-side application collecting information about you as you browse. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not set cookies to follow you around the web.

The tools we publish, our field instruments, are built to run entirely in your browser, on your own device. When you use one, the data you put into it stays with you unless you deliberately export or share it. Owning your data is one of our stated principles, and the site is built to honor it.

The sections below explain the few places where data does change hands, so you can make informed choices. We would rather be plain about a small, honest footprint than pad this page with clauses that do not apply to us.

02

Who we are

Green Shoe Garage is a design, engineering, and fabrication studio based at 215 Park Street, #117, Cumberland, Maryland 21501. For any question about this policy or your data, you can reach us at [email protected] or +1 301 880 4538.

For the purposes of data protection law, Green Shoe Garage is the party responsible for the information described here that we receive directly. The third-party services named below act as separate processors under their own agreements and privacy policies.

03

What the website itself collects

Browsing the marketing pages of this site does not require you to provide any personal information, and the pages themselves do not gather any from you.

Like essentially every website, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical request logs when a page or file is served, which can include your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, and general details about your browser. This is a routine part of delivering and securing a website. This site is served through Cloudflare; their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy at cloudflare.com.

We store one small preference in your browser: the theme you pick with the Night, Day, or High contrast control, saved locally under the key gsg-theme so the site remembers your choice on your next visit. This never leaves your device, is not an identifier, and is not used to track you. You can clear it any time through your browser settings.

04

Information you choose to send us

If you use our contact form, you provide your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message. That submission is delivered to us through Formspree, a form-handling service, which processes and forwards it under its own privacy policy at formspree.io. We use what you send only to read and respond to your inquiry.

If you book a call through our scheduling page, that booking is handled by Cal.com, embedded on the page. The scheduling details you enter, such as your name, email, and chosen time, are processed by Cal.com under its own privacy policy at cal.com, and shared with us so we can meet with you.

If you email or call us directly, we keep that correspondence for as long as needed to help you and to maintain our normal business records.

05

Third-party content and live data

A few pages pull live information directly into your browser rather than through our servers. The tools page can show current space-weather data from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (via services at noaa.gov) and recent public activity from our code repositories at github.com. When those widgets load, your browser contacts those services directly, so your request, including your IP address, reaches them under their own terms. We do not receive or store that information, and the widgets fail quietly if you block them.

Where our pages link out to other sites, LinkedIn, YouTube, GitHub, Etsy, and the like, those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.

06

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not show advertising on this site, and we do not let advertisers pay to influence what appears here. We do not build behavioral profiles of visitors, and we do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on these pages.

We ask for only what a given interaction genuinely needs, and we do not use the information you send for one purpose to quietly pursue another.

07

How we protect and keep information

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, and the third-party services we use maintain their own security practices. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we keep our footprint small on purpose, which is itself a protection.

We keep the information you send us only as long as we need it for the purpose you sent it, to run our business, or to meet a legal obligation, after which we dispose of it responsibly.

08

Your choices and rights

You can browse this site without giving us any personal information. You can decline to use the contact form or booking tool and reach us by phone or email instead. You can clear the locally stored theme preference, and block the live-data widgets, through your browser.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the personal information we hold about you, such as the right to see it, correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make such a request, or to ask how it applies to you, email us at [email protected] and we will respond in line with the law that applies.

09

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general, professional audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes or as the law requires. When we do, we will revise the date below. Because the site is versioned, material changes travel with a new site version. We encourage you to check back if data practices matter to you.

This policy reflects the practices of the website as built. It is provided for transparency and is not legal advice.
